Producer and Director of Bad vibe

Creating the Bad Vibe video was such a phenomenal experience. As a director, it is always a privilege to be involved in a big overseas project. As a personal experience, it was amazing to travel to Greece for a week in summer to be able to shoot the video, and as a professional I found it inspiring and enriching to be able to work on this project. Through the video we found it essential to push themes of enjoyment and the undeniable value of friendship when in the face of adversity. Having been young myself at one point I feel like I never truly understood the importance of having reliable and honest friendships. I feel like a lot of kids nowadays look to seek the artificial and temporary satisfaction that life offers. I hope that one teen out there will watch this video and it will make them think about a mate that they have and what they mean to them and how that true admiration of friendship cannot be forged. Or even someone a little older might watch this video and feel nostalgic about their youth. And I feel that through the video we have been able to really assert those ideas.
Obviously within the media industry things aren’t that simple and there are a lot of challenges which have to be faced. Firstly, having only a week to film out in Greece meant that we had to get the shot and if we were unable to then we would have to simply just move on. As part of the creative team this was difficult to come to terms with but it would be even worse to leave the island with only half of our footage and having to try and go from there. Again, to really encapsulate the kind of party environment that we were in we refused to recreate a set to look like a club. We wanted the raw footage to get that authentic feel. If you were to ever watch the Avicii “You Make Me” video it really lacks the authentic feel, don’t get me wrong it’s a great piece of work but we just wanted to tackle it from a different angle. I do feel proud of my team and the actors as this video took a whole lot of planning and direction to be in a position where we are now with the video ready to go live. It’s a very exciting time and I hope the video can inspire a wide audience into feeling assured about themselves and who surrounds them
